What is the School Completion Programme?
St. Brendan’s College, under the DEIS scheme has been part of the School Completion Programme since 2007. Roisin Heavey is the Project Worker for the North Mayo School Completion Programme. As Project Worker for the North Mayo School Completion Programme, Roisin will be working in St Brendan’s College every Monday and Wednesday. Her role is to provide support to students to help them with attendance, participation and to promote positive outcomes in school.
She will be providing a range of supports to many students depending on their needs.
Supports Provided:
- One to One support (Needs include – Attendance, Anxiety, Motivation, Organisation and Study Skills, Friendship etc.)
- Small Group Support (Working Things Out, Decider Skills, Mentoring for Achievement, Mentor Programme, Smart Moves, Mind Out)
- Lunch Clubs
- Summer Camp
The School Completion Programme (SCP) provides support to children and young people to help them to get the most from their education.
North Mayo SCP project focuses on:
- Improving children’s attendance at school.
- Improving children’s participation in school (involvement in class and school activities).
- Improving children’s retention (staying in school).
